The film

The Weather Underground, the film, is an Oscar-nominated documentary that looks at the complex motivations that fuel political violence.

The Weather Underground, the group of politicized youth the film centers around, bombed several government buildings, helped Timothy Leary break out of jail, and declared war on the US government in the 60s and 70s.

Now, nearly 50 years later, Sam Green offers a glimpse back into an exciting period of time that's reached nearly mythological status with those who were born afterwards.

It starts at 8:30 p.m. at Northern United Place.

The class

Sam Green, director of the Weather Underground, will share his experiences as an independent filmmaker in a two hour master class.

Sure to be full of invaluable information, the class will help both the budding filmmaker and the cinephile alike in understanding the obstacles a filmmaker faces and the strategies he or she weaves to overcome them.

The class starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.
