Accessibility statement

Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP) wants everyone to be able to use wamp.ca, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This page says where the site stands, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site was rebuilt in 2026 with that target, and we checked it again in September 2026 with automated testing plus keyboard and screen reader spot checks on every kind of page.
What that looks like in practice
Every link, button, form and the trailer player works with a keyboard, focus is always visible, and a "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach with the Tab key. Every page has one main heading, headings in a sensible order, and labelled regions, so screen reader users can jump around the page. Text meets the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, including on news cards and festival banners, where the site checks the colours our editors choose and switches the text to black or white on its own. Every form field has a label, errors are announced, and confirmation messages take focus. The menu animation and smooth scrolling switch off when your device asks for reduced motion. You can zoom the page to 200% without losing anything. Photos that repeat a nearby caption are marked as decorative, so screen readers don't read them twice.
What we know isn't perfect yet
- Some older news posts, moved over from our previous website, have images without text descriptions or link to PDFs that weren't made accessible. We fix them as we come across them, and we'll fix any you point out.
- Tickets, passes and memberships are sold through Eventive, and equipment rentals through EZRentalStore. Those are separate services with their own accessibility work, and we don't control them. If either gives you trouble, contact us and we'll help you complete the booking another way.
- Trailers play in YouTube's or Vimeo's player. Captions depend on what the filmmaker uploaded.
- Film descriptions and images on festival pages come from the filmmakers through our box office listings, so their quality varies.
At our events
Access at the venues we use for screenings, workshops and the festival varies from place to place. If you need step-free access, accessible seating, captioned or described screenings, or anything else to take part, tell us when you book or contact us before the event, and we'll do what we can.
